DFI has the Inventory
DFI is proud to have designed and manufactured the only independently owned and operated pipe mill in Western Canada. Located in Edmonton, the pipe mill can eliminate inventory and supply problems, and in combination with an on-site railhead for raw material delivery, a large pipe yard, and a fleet of tri-drive tractors to haul the piles to site, the pipe mill ensures customer projects will get the required material.
Made to Order
Designing a foundation shouldn’t be contingent on what piling material the contractor has access to. Paying for only the material needed not only saves product costs, it saves on trucking, extra cutting and capping costs, possible add-on & splicing costs, standby time, and saves on the disposal of excess material. The high frequency 350,000 watt electric resistance welding (ERW) pipe mill makes piles ranging from 4½ to 16 inches, and up to .500 inch wall thickness—to any length.
Save Time and Money on the Fly
Subsurface engineering reports can only act as a guide for embedded pile depth calculations. If unforeseen conditions during installation cause piles to be too long, or too short, DFI can adjust the mill output and ship the remaining material made to the amended length. On larger jobs, uninstalled delivered piles can be replaced—DFI hauls the new length piles to site, and collects the original piles for only the price of the trucking.
Meets Industry Standards
Piling material manufactured by the DFI pipe mill undergoes a stringent Quality Control process meeting ASTM International’s A252 grade three pipe standard. Programmable logic controllers make precise mechanical adjustments during production ensuring the highest quality output, while the computerized mill generates comprehensive Mill Certificates including chemistry composition. DFI helical piles are made from A252 grade pipe following certified Canadian Welding Bureau W47.1 welding procedures, and meet CSA W59 standards.
More than just Pipe
DFI stocks a full inventory of steel pipe piles—15,000 tons. With an additional 15,000 tons of steel coil inventory, supply levels never suffer. DFI also stocks helical piles, large diameter piles, H-piles, sheet piles, and pile caps.
